Welcome to the Poet’s Corner. If you haven’t experienced Denise Kester’s art inspired poetry then you are in for a treat. Please join me as we connect with Denise’s soul work in action. This weeks featured poem, Breaking Through Old Patterns, is fitting for the times. It is time for new ways of being. What better time then now to come from our hearts, fly free and come out singing! It is surely a delight to hear Denise narrate for us about Breaking Through Old Patterns.

Countless people have written to me telling me that, as children, they learned Classical Music while watching cartoons. I truly believe the brilliant combination was no coincidence. Add laughter to the mix and what we’ve got is mystically magical.

Surprises Can Be Counted. Borrowing from the library worlds and bundles, hearts and triumphs, characters for company, facts that pull try this, try that.  But today, reading a poem about home, a polished maple leaf, extending its stem like an arm, falls from the pages where it had been placed to dry by another poetry fan. A forgotten leaf left or purposely so a guest could receive the unexpected. 

I delight in the dilemma of
let it hitchhike back in the book
or is it my gift to sit in my kitchen
on the large maroon plate
where it will remind
how poems arrive.

I love and identify with Jill’s true and continuing story of the gift of We Four Generations. In my very large family I have “marveled at the majesty” of the enchanting experience of being in the presence of four generations.

It is the future of Basil and Dandelion that has me 
curious and excited. No hat? Really?

I am excited to introduce talented artist, poet and singer songwriter, Jill Rothman, to the Global Heart Community.

Jill describes herself as a person of few words who “loves to create snapshots of what goes on in peoples lives” and delights in conjuring her own interesting characters.

Crow’s Magic Jar

Crow has been gathering and storing magic that the people have thrown away, not knowing or recognizing what they were doing. Crow has been keeping the magic jar hidden and safe until the time is right to release the magic again.

Fox knows that Crow is keeping the magic. Fox tries to convince Crow that we all need the magic right now. 

Fox says:

“We can’t wait any longer. Not all people are ready, but, lots of them are, and if you release the magic back into the world they will see it and be encouraged.” 

“They will see the truth of it.” 

“They will see the beauty of it.  

“Maybe.” says Crow

“It’s worth a try.” says Fox

“Maybe.” Says Crow

The fire burned hot
Everything gone
Nothing left
Nothing to hold on to
She had to let go
A bitter longing release
Yet
Out of the devastation
comes the alchemical
chain of events
that allows the
unexpected to take root

International Music is a mix of melodies from the neighboring cultures of South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and beyond. The diverse instrumental styles and vocal complexities are colorful and spirited. If you’re adventuresome you will be captivated by the polyrhythmic exuberant international vibes.

I am the sister of the moon and
kin to the silent owl in the night
that seeks the sleeping bear.

Quiet and reverent in the exquisite wonder of life,
with its cycles of death and birth.

Traveling through time, again and again,
With splendor and grace,
stumbling, again and again

I am here, recycled and transmuted for the glory
of the earth and the earthbound things,
that the Universal God Mind chooses to experience.
Ah, the beauty and depth of the dance that never ends.

I invite you to enjoy a Heart 2 Heart journey as we celebrate Music to Heal the World on this 4th of July Weekend.

One day Ganesh's daughter is having a talk with her friend Raven Crow. She wonders aloud "what if those obstacles hold unforeseen treasures? What if the obstacles are not obstacles after all; maybe, they are really opportunities or perhaps a portal to higher consciousness? Maybe the obstacles are not as solid or substantial as people think they are. They need to figure this out for themselves. Because, if they don't figure it out, the obstacle always comes back. It may look different but it is the same obstacle." 

Raven Crow says, "Yes, perception is a tricky thing. What you are seeing may not be what you are looking at. In fact, I can see in two directions at once, which makes it possible to see in between things, where nothing, is, as it appears to be. Moving in between things is a great way to get around obstacles.”

"Exactly Right!" exclaims Ganesh's daughter. "What seems impenetrable is really an illusion. See this green wall of chaos blocking my way? I can step in it and through it, like this." She pulls Raven Crow along with her. After a few minutes Raven Crow is able to catch his breath and says, "Well, that was a bit of a squeeze,.. but,.. I feel pretty good, now." Ganesh's daughter says "Yeah, but, wasn’t it worth it? Think of all the time we just saved by going through, rather than around.”

Protect the wild and precious heart Hold the duality of life and death tenderly In open hands It is the wild unfolding presence of what is Be ready to lift and let her fly.

She listens intently to the cycles of the natural world. She holds the lotus of creation and leans into the tree of life. She sees with soul eyes and hears the pulse of life in the in-between places. Here is where the quiet hum of life is always present. For her, the hum is teeming with the amplified sound of life in all its forms. She is fully engaged with the verdant communion and reunion with all life.

“Do you trust me”? She asks Yes and yes again, What ever comes, I trust you. Out of the great wide open of not knowing and uncertainty the Thunderbird appears opening her heart allowing her prayers to  fall upon my open mind
into my hands, creating.

Her prayers merge with my prayers and they land where the cranes of peace rest in the meadow of my heart near the lake of still waters where the quiet imaginings create ripples of light that catch my attention.

Bear came into Mind while the universe was arranging and rearranging its self.
A spark of inspiration, a fleeting thought from the great spirit of time out of mind.
The Great Dreaming has begun.

I did an exercise once where I drew a big circle and inside my inner “bubble” was what I would allow into my life. I believe  it opened me to “receive all that is possible”.
Jasmin’s poem has reminded me of that exercise. It was an exercise in responsibility. What we allow ourselves to receive with conscious understanding is something we do, not only for ourselves, but for the highest good of all.

giving elements, Oxygen and Water, are the

change entirely into rust and disintegrate in

Countless people have written to me telling me that, as children, they learned Classical Music while watching cartoons.
I truly believe the brilliant combination was no coincidence. Add laughter to the mix and what we’ve got is mystically magical.

I’ll be mixing up the music this weekend to the tune of a barber in the south of Spain being taunted by a rabbit in drag, a viking hunting that very same rabbit who also shows up in drag,(the girl gets around!), a crazy red-headed cowboy and a rabbit chasing each other on horseback, followed by a wolf and a few pigs doing a polka. Talk about laughter. Well, Beep Beep to that.

Classical Music and Cartoons. The ultimate in complementary art forms. Two things I cherish in life are music and laughter and I have recently learned that it is fashionable to acknowledge the influence cartoon music has had on society.There are a multitude of masterful classically infused cartoon scores all punctuated with great gags, whacky sound effects and the exquisite synchronization of music with the micro movement of slapstick action. Hundreds of millions of people the world over first experienced classical music watching ducks, cats and rabbits playing piano, swans swimming down river and magic flutes floating in air. Peace House would like to honor and give thanks to all of the volunteers and donors who have participated in their service to the community in the feeding of 21,000 people in 2020.  Uncle Food’s Diner is celebrating 21,000 meals served in 2020!

The Peace House / Uncle Food’s Diner tradition of providing wholesome nutrition for those who are unhoused or low-income has been busier than ever this past year serving over 100 meals a day. Their efforts have included outreach to those who are experiencing food insecurity due to lay-offs related to the COVID-19 shut-down as well as those affected by the Almeda fires. Many community organizations have stepped up to support the efforts of Uncle Food’s Diner with private donations and grants.

Peggy  Rubin is founding director of the Center for Sacred Theatre in Ashland, Oregon. Primary activities of the Center include the creation of workshops in Living Life as Sacred Theatre, and Sacred Studies of the Divine Feminine. Since 1987 she has also been the principal teaching associate of Jean Houston, Ph.D., in Dr. Houston’s worldwide multicultural transformational work and in her schools of spiritual studies, as well as a member of the core faculty of the School for Social Artistry, an intensive leadership training program. Working with Jean Houston, Peggy Rubin has presented classes, workshops and trainings throughout the United States, and in Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Sweden, Greece, Egypt, The Netherlands, India, West Africa, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Jamaica, and on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme, in Albania, St. Lucia, Barbados, Kenya, and the Philippines.

It has been influenced and nurtured by the formal education I was privileged to receive in Kenya, the United States and Germany. As I was growing up, I witnessed forests being cleared and replaced by commercial plantations, which destroyed local biodiversity and the capacity of the forests to conserve water”…… In 1977 when we started the Green Belt Movement, I was partly responding to the needs identified by rural women, namely lack of firewood, clean drinking water, balanced diets, shelter and income.”
